Re: Air Canada a different perspective?
Its called simply doing your job, no? Honestly, who hurt you? You've got to be the most negative, antagonist dude on here. You take a refreshing, nice, unsolicited complimentary post which is already exceedingly rare, into whatever you're pushing. As Einstein said, don't associate with negative peo...

Re: Air Canada a different perspective?
Did a trip to upstate NY last month, gotta say AC was great. Their app is first rate and used it extensively during our trip, loaded our boarding passes into my Apple Wallet, got notifications for boarding, gate assignments even a same day re- route through ORD when our Jazz flight was cancelled fr...

Re: Do you think Flair is a stable career choice?
While it's great you see good loads on a flight, that means absolutely nothing. BOB, training costs, all totally inconsequential. Plenty of airlines have had full loads on flights right up to the day they shutter. WJ had great loads on the corridor but recently binned them entirely. All airlines hav...

Re: Help looking for historic merger data
Thanks JBI, I hadn't thought to check Canlii, but of course the decisions would be recorded there! Much appreciated and thanks to the other people who've contributed info as well. There's also some summaries of other mergers in the Westjet thread, so between these I'm getting a pretty good idea of t...

Re: And so it Begins
I’m in Toronto. Just finished a big Reno job. Your comments conflict with every tradesman and supplier I’ve talked to. But do carry on. And no, saying we’ve learned anything just tells me your level of knowledge. That’s a laugh.    I'm quite comfortable thank you, and it's gett...

Re: And so it Begins
Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while, so predictions can happen eventually. I'm in construction and property, and doing just fine, always have been. A slowdown in growth isn't a downturn, and even a downturn doesn't mean everyone is suddenly homeless. Living life as a catastrophic oracl...

Re: Training bond Write off with CRA
Did you pay it off because of departure, or pay up front for training??
If you moved employers and aren't on the same type, you could proceed under the assumption that it isn't a lasting benefit and is just part of a professional training program, all good.

Re: Article on Porter's expansion and pilot supply in general
Pretty interesting to be the ones holding all the cards for an entire industry right now gentlemen, let's not forget it! Are you kidding? There could be a grand total of three pilots left in the entire country and still, two would fly for flat pay while the third loaded bags! 🤣 :D Don't forget one ...

Re: Article on Porter's expansion and pilot supply in general
He probably just put that blurb about forums in to bluff the complainers from spouting off on here! ;) So, I wonder, since it's mathematically impossible for all the airlines competing in Porter’s regime to reach their growth targets because of pilot supply, who's going to fold? If the ULCC's can on...

Welp, you can guarantee than any sort of mushroom therapy or microdosing for people in aviation or other sensitive fields will be a hard unconditional no for the foreseeable future after this.

Article on Porter's expansion and pilot supply in general
A bit of an op-ed, but a good read with some opinions from M Deluce about the impossibility of the existing airlines' current growth plans and the pilot supply. Also, the CEO lurks on AvCanada :) For Globe and Mail subscribers; the article has a couple graphs and images on the supply and demand of p...

Re: So, years ago......
I honestly thought he was some random guy posting ironically for the disruption and attention. I had no idea this was a genuine attitude, and one of such corruption and selfishness that sold out an entire generation across this industry. To me that mentality is incongruous with basic humanity, but I...

Database? What kind of beepboop junk is that? Nerd!
Don't expect any significant technological jumps in this industry, I literally had to fax a resume to an operator only 10 years ago. Though I have heard some might grudgingly adapt BBM soon.

Help looking for historic merger data
Hello, just looking for some assistance in finding resources on historical airline merger results for pilots and labour. Looking specifically for examples of integration for DOH and seat mobility fences that have been applied in the past, instead of conjecture here from recent conversations. Been re...

Wasn't there a troll on here a while back that had the same story? 5000+ hours on a King Air and nobody would hire him because of his lack of contacts? Said networking was for chumps. Can't remember the name he used and couldn't be bothered to look. The many usernames of NickyNick! I can't remember...

Re: 2023 Q3 results
Agreed, the whole sector is down, central banks are signalling interest rates are going to stay high for a while and discretionary income is definitely being eroded. On top of that, price of oil is climbing. Meanwhile, Transat's CFO is leaving, none of the debt (900 million) has been refinanced yet...

A is as described above, but are you sure it's B for the second question? If so, something's up or missing info.
