PURPOSE
You will ensure the delivery of ‘best in class’ pilot and crew services to Managed Clients, and foster a pilot culture that attracts, retains, engages and drives exceptional performance and service. You will also ensure safe and efficient pilot and flight crew operations that comply with all federal and local regulations.

WHAT WILL YOU BE WORKING ON?

Manage:
  • Ensures all pilots, flight crew and direct reports understand and respect the company security policy.
    Assesses the ability of flight crewmembers to meet regulatory requirements with regards to their designated duties including conducting checkrides.
    Oversees compensation, vacations, working conditions and other personnel related issues for all flight crew members, and monitors the progress of probationary pilots.
    Gathers information for all mission, accident, incident and occurrence report investigations and closings as well as ensures the prevention and investigation of all pilot and flight crew related occurrences reports including actioning and follow-up.
    Collaborates with HR to ensure all flight crew related employment and talent management practices are aligned with company approaches.

Build and develop a high performing, engaged pilot team:
  • Develops and ensures compliance with all safety standards and programs.
    Builds relationships with Managed Clients and monitors service levels and client satisfaction, resolving issues quickly as they arise.
    Works closely with the Director, Flight Operations, as well as the Managed Aircraft leaders to develop short and long term plans to support the growth of the business.
    Oversees the development of a highly skilled and high performing pilot support team.
    Recruits, selects and on-boards new pilots and flight crew staff on behalf of clients.
    Ensures effective two-way communication with pilots in order to gather feedback, proactively address concerns and foster a sense of belonging with Skyservice.

Provide technical leadership to the organization:
  • Prepares technical data on new routes and aerodromes, assessing their operational suitability and the training required prior to introduction.
    Maintains specific aircraft operating manuals and Minimum Equipment Lists as required.
    Establishes and monitors key performance metrics for the function, addressing performance gaps and anticipating potential issues.
    Provides support and leadership on all pilot training & support functional activities, resolving issues and ensuring client expectations are met.

WHO YOU ARE
  • You possess a strong drive for results and a passion for understanding and meeting the needs of our customers in a safety focused environment. If you want to challenge your technical expertise then this is the right team for you!
    Airline Transport Pilot Certificate plus Valid ATPL (Aeroplane) and a valid Instrument Rating for an aircraft subject to CAR, Part VII, Subpart 4
    ACP qualified is an asset (ability to conduct check rides)
    Type rating for at least one type of aircraft operated and qualified to act as a PIC on one of the types to be operated
    Minimum of 3 years’ experience as PIC (as defined COM Para 1.1.2)
    Previous experience in a chief pilot role, an asset

  • In-depth knowledge of all relevant aviation regulations
    Significant track record in building a team of high performing and engaged pilots.
    Strong leadership skills including ability to manage, coach and develop performance,
    Superior customer service, relationship building and influence skills
    Collaborative and oriented towards continuous improvement
    Ability to work in fast-paced, high pressure environment
    Flexible to work additional hours and be on call as required
    High safety orientation as well as experience with SMS / safety management processes.
