Probably renewing an LMO for someone that already works there. Thus the specificity.

Bingo.

Still would be nice if this position was open to regular Canadian flight crew without such incredibly limiting requirements.

Ah well.

A TFW, by definition, will not meet this requirement:
Must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident of Canada.

As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship

They may have written that there but I can guarantee you any Canadian with that highly specific experience already works for Onex lol.

I am 99.9999% sure this ad is written to prove there are no qualified Canadian or resident candidates so that they can get their already picked TFdubs.

Yes but that’s irrelevant to the TFW. In order to renew their permit their employer has to prove that they tried and failed to employ someone who meets those residency conditions.

It's likely a short term position. With the WJ purchase Onex has garnered a lot of 'store credits' at Boeing thru the max fiasco. Give it a year for the deal to close and Onex to get WJ fully privatized, those store credits will materialize in the form of a Max configured as a BBJ to replace the existing corp airplanes. In small letters somewhere it'll say 'WesJet Charters' on the fuselage and crewing will be a YYZ bid pairing on the Westjet roster. Internal accounting showing the parent company 'chartering' the airframe regularily, but when anybody else calls, WJ doesn't have a BBJ available for charter.

Running a BBJ on it's own doesn't make a lot of sense, but, when you own a whole fleet of 737 with a maintenance and crew system in place to operate the airline fleet, just one more airframe of the same type is probably cheaper to run than the dedicated business jet airframes where there is no economy of scale to be had.

Nope, just nope. You are right, there are so many reasons that does not make ANY sense.

Good group of people in that flight department. Best of luck to who ever is successful in the process.
