Post by bizjets101 »

Accident occurred back on 12th October 2009 landing at Aeroporto de Angra dos Reis, Rio de Janeiro, a Citation pilot, reported landing in 60 knot winds and strong turbulence. Upon landing, he noted a King Air 200 that had blown tires from a heavy landing, and a Phenom 100 off the runway with landing gear collapsed.

The Phemon's Certificate of Airworthiness was suspended due to the accident, followed by an unsuccessful attempt to repair the aircraft, is believed to be a write-off.

However, Mustangs, Eclipse's, have had mishaps as well; as for the photos below - Mustang N54PV was repaired and is up and flying. Eclipse N333MY has not flown again as yet, accident was two years ago. The Phenom doesn't look bad?, however damage was reported as substantial.

I guess it comes down to not only the damage, but the insurance companies decision to spend money on very expensive repairs - or just declare a write off?
