LASIK and short term disability.

Post by 123454321 » Sat Aug 18, 2018 4:09 am

Hi there,

I’ve made the decision to get laser eye surgery as contact lenses have become a real nuisance for me in the past year or so. I’ve heard of people going on short term disability for it however my claim got denied since it’s elective. Wondering if anyone has any tips with the financial part of this.

I would be fine working in an office if my employer let me for the six weeks or so after surgery but if that doesn’t work out I’d still like have some sort of income.

I also considered taking vacation time for part of it and unpaid leave for another part but I worry if there are any complications and can’t get back to flying in time then I won’t be covered under any benefits with that route.

Any advice would be appreciated!
