Annual weight gain.
Well, we're too late this year, but I think that we should have a contest next year revolving around Christmas weight loss/gain. A weigh-in ~ Dec 18th and a weigh-out ~Jan 2nd. Prizes for biggest gainers and least gainers.
Why? Well, peering around my belly, and through my toes, I see a 2.5 lb gain in the week that I spent at Chateau Mom this year.. all that turkey, cake, trifle, rumballs, etc... sure catches up with a guy if there's no exercise burning it off. Although, I did do a 'Fran' (9:20 scaled @ 65 ) on the 23rd..

Say, what's that mountain goat doing up here in the mist?

I was lucky this year. I started doing a spin class a couple of months before Christmas 4 times a week and I refrained from sweets for the most part. Only one turkey dinner this year which has never been a problem for me, I don't really like turkey ( and no pie after supper, what retraint).

Good plan North Shore! BF it for next December!
By the way, what will the winner & loser get?

Whoa, wait a second...I nearly missed that. Did you say Fran? If you're doing that stuff, you sick bastard, you have no grounds to complain about a 2.5lb weight gain. You're lightyears ahead of everyone. That's got to be one of the most frightening and intimidating workout that I have ever seen.
For those who have not come across this sick and sadistic ritual, a Fran, from my understanding, is:
21 Thrusters (squat with a 40KG ~ 88lbs bar on your front shoulders, then stand up quick and straighten your arms over your head)
21 Pull ups
15 Thrusters
15 Pull ups
9 Thrusters
9 Pull ups
All completed as quickly as humanly, (well inhumanely is a better word) possible.
And here I was just happy dragging my endomorphic self out for a 5km run this morning, now I'm not so proud

88lbs! I wish! I barely squeaked out the last 9 reps with a 65lb bar (par for men is actually 95), and the last chinups were 3 sets of 3. I got thoroughly skirted by one of the women there - she went sub-5 minutes!! Crazy!

Re: Annual weight gain.
I got out of here for a three week break before Xmas. Wine and good food every day...
I gained 3 kgs in these 3 weeks. I came back 10 days ago, and hit the gym for more than hour every day. So far, I lost 2 kgs, and in a few days, should be back to normal...
Good thing that food here is bad...

Success in life is when the cognac that you drink is older than the women you drink it with.

Fark! Only ~ 1 lb this year, but Fran took me 10 minutes this morning. Must be getting older or something..
