Transport Canada Vision Requirements Question

Hi everyone, relatively new pilot here and brand new to the forums. Long story short, I currently have a category 3 medical but will hopefully be obtaining a category 1 within the next few months. One problem, my eyesight is not the best, I did pass for my cat 3 (I have congenital cataracts and am under 20). Are the vision requirements /20 just a guideline that TC uses or are they strict, also, is it dealt with on a case by case basis? I am 100% confident in flying with my current vision and will do ANYTHING I possibly can to postpone cataract surgery. All advice appreciated. Thanks. :)
