An investigation is underway following a hard landing at the Calgary International Airport on Tuesday.
Air Canada Express flight AC7212 landed safely at around 7:20 a.m., but a spokesperson for Air Canada said the “nose gear collapsed when the aircraft came to a stop.”
“We recognize that this would have been disconcerting to passengers, and can confirm that our regional Express partners are trained to handle events such as this and to look after our customers with care,” Angela Mah said in an email to Global News.
The flight, operated by Air Georgian, was travelling from Lethbridge to Calgary.
According to Mah, Air Georgian is inspecting the aircraft and will be “taking care of its maintenance as required.”
Fifteen people were on board the plane, a Beechcraft 1900 aircraft.
Passengers were able to leave the plane through the usual exit. They were then bussed to their terminal.
No injuries were reported.

Re: GGN NLG Failure in YYC
According to the CADOR's it's a CL-600 LOLOLOLOL.
An Air Georgian Limited Canadair CL-600-2B19 (GGN7212) from Medicine Hat, AB (CYXH) to Calgary, AB (CYYC) reported that the nose gear was possibly not fully extended. GGN7212 did a fly-by, tower observed that the nose gear was not fully extended, tilted aft. GGN7212 declared an emergency and landed Runway 35R. The nose gear did collapse on landing and aircraft came to a stop on the runway abeam Taxiway D4. Runway 35R NOTAM closed until 1930Z. Arrival rate reduced to 24 on single runway operation.

There's a lot of conflicting information between those two posts... Different departure aerodromes, different aircraft types. Although there is one constant... a very shitty operator.

That's because it IS a CL-600. Any other name given is for marketing.rigpiggy wrote:

Bombardier is doing some pretty weird marketing if they call their/Canadair's regional jet a Beechcraft...rigpiggy wrote: Fifteen people were on board the plane, a Beechcraft 1900 aircraft.

Correction: Change to the aircraft type. An Air Georgian Limited Beech 1900D (GGN7212) from Medicine Hat, AB (CYXH) to Calgary, AB (CYYC) reported that the nose gear was possibly not fully extended. GGN7212 did a fly-by, tower observed that the nose gear was not fully extended, tilted aft. GGN7212 declared an emergency and landed Runway 35R. In case anyone watching the video wasn't sure what aircraft type they were watching having it's prop blades shortened.

some 1900 operators lubricate and inspect that stop bolt every 100 hours.

TC has given Air Georgian a high-risk rating for several years and predicted that the risk rating would stay the same in the near future. With this level of risk, TC indicated that there was a low likelihood that risks were being managed.

Re: GGN NLG Failure in YYC
Captain only had 8 hours off prior to duty?
The only three things a wingman should ever say: 1. "Two's up" 2. "You're on fire" 3. "I'll take the fat one"
Re: GGN NLG Failure in YYC
That was the biggest thing that caught my eye as well. The CARS say a pilot needs opportunity for 8 hours of SLEEP + all the time required to eat, shower etc. How was 8 hours off duty not considered a giant red flag since its impossible to get 8 hours of sleep with only 8 hours off, need more along the lines of 9.5-10 hours.
Re: GGN NLG Failure in YYC
While that paints a pretty clear and bleak picture of GGN as a whole, pretty sure the bolt in question didn't know he only had 8 off

Re: GGN NLG Failure in YYC
Sure, but it demonstrates Georgians lack of adherence to the CARs, which increases the likelihood that the failure was also due to the company culture and not just a fluke incident.

Re: GGN NLG Failure in YYC
Transport Canada should post risk levels on their website for each operator and optimize Google searches of Airlines to show the rating...maybe that would be a better motivator for SMS processes to be followed or ya know...just maintaining airplanes so they don't cause accident/incidents if that isn't motivation enough.
Re: GGN NLG Failure in YYC
This is done in trucking. Called a csa score. All shippers can look up a companies score to decide who to award contracts to.Axial Flow wrote: ↑Sun Jun 03, 2018 9:52 pm Transport Canada should post risk levels on their website for each operator and optimize Google searches of Airlines to show the rating...maybe that would be a better motivator for SMS processes to be followed or ya know...just maintaining airplanes so they don't cause accident/incidents if that isn't motivation enough.
