I had a go around this year as a pax...landing in Moscow.

Did raise one eyebrow when we circled around for what must have been 30-40 minutes + before landing again. (Is SVO that busy?) Hoping we wouldn't divert who knows where.
Might have been a cell over the field.

Her email address is at the bottom of the article.
Assuming she was able to get that part right at least
I wrote and gave my opinion of her work.

Her next article:

"Angry pilot mob threatens reporter for exposing dangerous manouevres"
- "Pilots do not wish to have their faults exposed" witness says.
"I've like, always wanted to be a pilot, and I would be, like, great at it for sure. But how they are treating us passengers now, is like, totally not right."
"I just don't feel safe anymore flying with pilots like that."
"My nephew's brother's friend's dad took a flying lesson and he almost crashed on his go-around. It's crazy to do this with passengers in the back. Paying passengers mind you. I mean, the other passengers were paying, I just saved up some miles"

The number of times that I've "almost died" wow, I must be 60 or 70 hrough my 9 lives. Just the other day I was at 300' above above a huge granite ball that I couldn't even see and we had to pull out of the landing and execute the published missed approach procedure. I forgot to notify the TSB though.

So now WJ makes the news for doing a go around and AC makes the news for not doing a go around. Must be a slow news week.

We can probably question why the article was published (perhaps to inform people that go-arounds are part of aviation), but she actually did some decent basic research (she’s new: graduated in 2017 from U of R) like asking the company, the TSB and fishing the flight profile from FlightAware. She is just reporting what one guy had to say about what seemed to be a traumatic event for him (that could also be questionned).

What she could have done better is look at statistics of collision between aircraft in the landing phases, types of injuries, go-around rates, go-around causes, etc. This would probably be very beneficial for putting people’s mind at ease vs go-arounds...

I fly for a company that has a “No Fault Go-Around” policy.
If something isn’t right just go-around... no one asks any questions... no reports to be submitted... not even a quick email...
It’s just come back around and try it again...

If this passenger is never going to fly again then good riddance...

Honestly, I don’t know how you fine airline folks do it. Everytime I position on the airlines it seems the traveling public has gotten worse and I want to strangle someone.

Simple solution for that.
Enforce carry on limits,
Charge for carry on.

Since they started charging for checked everyone tries to bring steamer trunks on board, simply isn't the space on an A320, so people do this.

As a pax the boarding is the worst part of almost any flight.

Id also like to point out that go arounds pay more.

Go arounds are a form of checks and balances that allow the industry to opt out and try again. If this loser works in safety, he should recognize that a go around is a safety tool that is the safest option. A barrier in preventing an incident. Id even argue its one of the safest things pilots have at their disposal, its helped me a few times.

I e-mailed the reporter and asked her if she wrote that "tongue in cheek" and concluded with "Good Spoof".

I'll see if I get a reply.
