There has been a 3rd floatplane down, though this one is a privately operated one who apparently left his gear down landing on the water & was in Prince William Sound - a long way from SE Alaska where the other 2 happened.

That article also says it is the third plane crash in a week when it was the fourth - and then goes on to tell you about the other three planes down. Mountain Air Beaver and Taquan Otter midair collision; Taquan Beaver on landing; and now a ?private? Cessna 185.

The CBC is saying that the pilot had 5 hours experience on floats. I imagine he had more than that, though perhaps not with that operator. That said, wherever the 5 hour number comes from, it's small experience for a commercial operation in a Beaver.

NTSB says 1606 TT, 5 SES when hired April 22. No word on how much he flew at Taquan, just that he did his training and checkride in a Beaver on May 3.
