I'm glad they went to investigate but the company has had 3 weeks to do whatever they want to the aircraft. Due to any possible insurance claims they might have a vested interest in influencing the investigation.

There's one still flying down in the states I think.
Re: North Star BT67 put down on lake
I believe the aircraft was sitting in the lake probably related to why TC didn’t investigate earlier

Any truth to the story that someone pulled back the condition levers (red handles) instead the of the props after takeoff. Apparently the condition levers are bent and embedded in the front of the pedestal by the PIC when they realized what had just happened....

If the condition lever story were true, wouldn't the ignitions relight the engines? Sure it would probably wreck the turbines, but at least there would be power again. Not sure how the ignition system works on a Basler.

Now that was insightful. The last sentence sums it up nicely though.goingnowherefast wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2019 6:53 am If the condition lever story were true, wouldn't the ignitions relight the engines? It's pretty safe to assume there's a continuous or automatic ignition system. If you're so smart, how about providing some useful information.Illya Kuryakin wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2019 8:47 amNow that was insightful. Twenty years from now you'll be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the things you did do.

For autoignition to work at all, it has to be on.

Any further updates to this air-frame? Has it been ferried or repaired?
Re: North Star BT67 put down on lake
A photo posted to Facebook today shows the Basler flying out of Fort Hope airport. Good job recovery and repair crews!

Re: North Star BT67 put down on lake
So... it really wasn’t fuel tanks full of air that caused two PT6s to fail simultaneously?
Geez did I say that....? Or just think it....?
Re: North Star BT67 put down on lake
No, second hand version I have is two condition levels pulled instead of props by the f/o.iflyforpie wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2019 8:43 am So... it really wasn’t fuel tanks full of air that caused two PT6s to fail simultaneously?
I do fancy more details to this story though...

Time of the accident was 0 dark 30...I'm thinking that fatigue had a bit to do with this...
Say, what's that mountain goat doing up here in the mist?
