One of the most depressing things about summer is the significant increase in plane crashes. Sadly, another one yesterday.

"C-GRHF, a de Havilland DHC-2 Mk 1. (Beaver) on floats, in operation
private, with 1 pilot and 3 passengers on board, was on a flight under visual flight rules
from Gouin Reservoir, QC, to a lake north of Chibougamau, QC. At about 43
miles south of Chibougamau the aircraft collided with the trees. The pilot and 2
passengers sustained fatal injuries and 1 passenger suffered minor injuries.
The unit has suffered substantial damage. The Emergency Locator Transmitter (ELT) was
triggered. Joint Rescue Coordination Center - Trenton evacuated
the passenger in Chibougamau, QC."

Poor weather, hilly terrain, pilot decided to depart anyways, flew into a hill in poor weather. Low ceilings may be reasonable to fly around in VFR up north(where there are no antennas) when vis is good but as the vis goes down, the risk increases. People will inevitably fly around visually up north with low ceilings but don't screw around in low ceilings combined with poor vis.
