The news just gets worse and worse. At least it was a successful ejection from the initial report

Terrible month for the military. Glad the pilot survive. Looked like a stall during some kind of wing over manuever after departure.

Watching with Sound it seems like maybe loss of power? Pull up for altitude for ejection maybe?

Those things should have been retired years ago .. the Snowbird name can live on in a new jet.

I see the ejection in the Twitter video but not much for chutes. Hoping the best.

I heard on a different forum that he ended up on someone's roof. Shaken but OK.

Do both seats go even if single occupant? I thought they were travelling with their crew-chiefs as they usually do between air shows.

I take back my initial comment about "successful" ejection. Pics elsewhere on twitter showing one pilot on a roof. Another tweet shows the sequence and I'm guessing (only) that it was two separate ejections. They were headed to Comox so probably would have had a tech on board. At this point I'll take my own advice (from another thread) and wait on the FSR.

Deceased female in the plane according to this news article. Absolutely terrible.

Video gives a fair amount of detail, likely won't take long for TC and the Forces to piece this together.

From my vantage point, looked like the alarms were going shortly after takeoff (engine?) A decision was made to gain altitude, with the hope of potentially returning to base. Energy was too low to pull the 180 off, stall formed, occupants punched post stall.

Don't know the specs on those seats but I imagine things have to be pretty ideal to get out of those jets safely at low altitude.

My thoughts are with the families, team and all members of the Canadian Forces affected by this.

What a horrible tragedy.

That's not it? ... That's all you got? ... I can except "That's not it" had it been followed with an intelligent reason.

I'm not saying this accident has to do with maintenance or anything related, but the Tutors had their day .. what's wrong with gracing the CT-155 with Snowbird colours and beginning a new chapter?

I hope to God everyone is ok .. it would be nice to see something positive come out of what's evolving into a shitty 2020.

Indeed.

Just watching the video taken from the left of the departure path it looks like snowbird 11.

That’s not it.

The USAF just wrote off an F-22 a day ago.

How many Hawks did we lose to the crappy Adour engine when they were practically new?

An accident—unless it’s determined to be age-related deterioration-is no reason to retire an airframe.

Thinking of the pilots, crew, and families.
