“C-GMOC, a Beechcraft King Air 200 aircraft operated by Alkan Air, was conducting MEDEVAC
flight AKN513+ from Dawson City, YK (CYDA) to Whitehorse (CYXY), YK with 2 crew and 3
passengers on board. On the downwind portion of the circuit during arrival into CYXY, the flight
crew selected the flaps to approach. The flaps subsequently fully extended. The flight crew
selected the flaps to up, but the flaps did not retract. The aircraft completed an uneventful landing on RWY 32L. During the landing roll on the runway, smoke began to enter the cabin/cockpit.
The flight crew declared an emergency and requested ARFF respond to the aircraft. The aircraft taxied clear of RWY 32L onto RWY 20, came to a stop, and the crew initiated an emergency evacuation
in accordance with company standard operating procedures. ARFF arrived on scene and inspected
the aircraft, no fire was observed.
Subsequent aircraft inspection by company maintenance found the cause of the smoke to be a failed electric flap actuator motor. The flap motor was replaced, and the aircraft was returned to service.”
Something to consider when a motor appears to have been operating when it shouldn’t
Interesting Flap Issue

Re: Interesting Flap Issue
I wonder if a checklist directed them to retract the flaps or if they just did it out of reflex?
