There is one less 152 out there....

Crash at YNJ this afternoon. Cessna 152 from Skyquest. Scuttlebutt is he was solo doing a short field takeoff and stalled/spun it about 30 feet up. Luckily - he seems to be ok.

Bit of a mess, that buck-52. Just gotta find the right tin basher, and she'll buff up just fine.

Lets face it, if schools are crazy enough to drop 150k in "upgrades*" on a 152, unless she's absolutely FUBAR that airframe will be back in the air soon enough.

*Reference the story of GMAX.

That does show how rugged the 152 (and Cessnas in general) is for occupant protection. It's not the first I've seen that looked like that, and the occupants were not badly injured.

C-GTYI, a Cessna (Textron) 152 operated by Skyquest Aviation Ltd, was conducting a local
training flight from the Langley (CYNJ), BC airport with one student pilot on board. The student
conducted the flights' initial takeoff from Runway 25 practicing a soft field technique. As the aircraft
became airborne its' pitch attitude remained nose high. Control of the aircraft was lost and it
suddenly banked left and pitched nose down. The aircraft struck the grassed area between
Runway 25 and Taxiway E. The left wing tip was the initial contact point followed by the nose and
the right wing. The aircraft came to rest on its nose. The pilot exited the aircraft without assistance
and received only minor injuries. A signal from the emergency locator transmitter was not received.
After a maintenance inspection of the aircraft, it has been deemed destroyed.
