Useful Android apps
Here is a list of the Android aviation apps I use:
Air Navigation Pro: https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... navigation
E6B+ (includes a very good weight and balance): https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... activities
Real-time GPS tracker: https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... imeTracker
UTC Time (you can put it on your homescreen as a widget): https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... 22.utctime
Flight Timer Lite (haven't really used this, as it's easier to just write down the times, but it seems good): https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... lighttimer
Simple Checklist: https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... tchecklist
FltPlan Go (I prefer Air Nav Pro, but this is useful for the charts): https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... fltplan.go

Re: Useful Android apps
E6B+ on the play store says "This item is not available in your country."
I use ANP, FltPlanGo, and AeroWeather Pro (paid version, there is a free one).

That's odd. Unless the author has removed Canada from the list of countries (which would be bizarre), my guess is that maybe either your ip address, SIM or Google Play account have a different country. Although even then it's odd that you should be getting the error on this app.AirFrame wrote:E6B+ on the play store says "This item is not available in your country."

I agree, it's odd. I've checked from my phone, my work computer, and my home computer, and in all three locations it says I can't download it because it's incompatible with my device (Nexus 5) and not available in my country.CpnCrunch wrote:That's odd. The google chrome plugin that lets you download the .apk file directly won't even work.

Re: Useful Android apps
What's really great these days?
I was just curious partially because I was looking at Garmin Pilot this morning. Probably great but maybe too expensive for a guy that just found out, his iPad version of Pilotwiz quit working a few years ago and was just taking up 10MBs of memory.
Also instead of starting a new thread, what is everyone's favorite android tablet?

Re: Useful Android apps
Favourite? Well, I've only tried a couple so I can't really say.
I bought a cheap ($89) Samsung Tab A6 on eBay and, although I have some aviation apps on it I really only use it for three things:
1) Moving map display, Velcro'd to the instrument panel. The onboard GPS works well enough and I have a "real" Garmin handheld GPS as primary. Tablet on moving map, Garmin set to the page that points you to your destination/next waypoint.
2) Paired to my InReach for text messaging.
3) Playing solitaire when the weather shuts me down in some God-forsaken place.

Re: Useful Android apps
Well, AirNavPro has dropped almost completely off my radar as FltPlanGo has become an order of magnitude better than it used to be three years ago. It's still not *quite* as user-friendly as ForeFlight, but the price difference more than makes up for that.Beefitarian wrote:What's really great these days?
Personal choice was the Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 8", 32GB model. I was waiting for the S3 to come out in an 8" model but it looks like they're not going to do that anytime soon. If you have the lap/cockpit space the Tab S3 is a really nice tablet, but you don't need the extra screen or processor speed to run FltPlanGo.Also instead of starting a new thread, what is everyone's favorite android tablet?

Re: Useful Android apps
$89 used unit sounds pretty good to me. Definitely counts as a favorite.
Thanks both of you.

I'm a big fan of RosterBuster for work. https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... ster&hl=en
It's the only app I have ever paid for, and it was well worth the pocket change.

Re: Useful Android apps
I just found Garmin Pilot on the play store in Canada.... With everything in place as far as I can tell.
Re: Useful Android apps
RE: Garmin Pilot, yes, it's now got Canadian Charts, but wouldn't you rather put $200/year into your fuel tank? FltPlanGo does it all, just takes a bit longer to learn where everything is.
