Morningstar caravan
Been looking for info on the caravan operation at Morningstar. Mainly the sched. I've already found info on the pay.
Re: Morningstar caravan
Good luck! No movement expected in a long while there.
Re: Morningstar caravan
I've seen them advertise for the caravan like 2-3 times in the past year. I do hear little movement as it's a sweet gig.
Re: Morningstar caravan
I realize there is not a lot of movement there. I'm just trying to find out the schedule for the Caravan out of YYZ. I've heard its a day run north. Work 2 days one week and 3 the second. Rest of the week days you're on stby. Just wondering if this is correct. I believe the pay is in the mid 50's.

Re: Morningstar caravan
Are people staying there for that? Schedule would have to be pretty good for that pay to keep people around.cxchd wrote:I realize there is not a lot of movement there. The only three things a wingman should ever say: 1. "Two's up" 2. "You're on fire" 3. "I'll take the fat one"
Re: Morningstar caravan
Your info on 2 one week/3 one week seems quite correct...
Options to go on the 757...Some of the senior Caravan guys don't even do that as they're making good money and happy with their lifestyles.
I don't work for them but I've met a few guys in NB/SSM. Good bunch of guys.

That's what I thought. Just looking at the lifestyle. Its actually better pay and scheduling than what I'm doing now.

Re: Morningstar caravan
It's good and bad.
No protection from working a full 703 month, essentially flying 5 days a week.
On average guys fly 3 days/week (M/W/F then T/Th), weekends and holidays off, with reserve days in between. Reserve ends once the vans leave the base. Usually 2 Captains per plane, so when one's on, others off.
Right now theres no upward movement, people are settled, but you never know.
We go to work to relax, workout and sleep, oh and its only day flying. Leave early morning, home in the evening.
About the easiest flying you can imagine.

Re: Morningstar caravan
Whats wrong with 5 days a week? Would people rather prefer sitting at a desk 9-5? I know its long hours but still. Not a hard job at all.
Re: Morningstar caravan
Sitting at a desk 9-5 is different than being away from home 4-22

Re: Morningstar caravan
Nothing wrong, its just that you don't want people thinking it's always going to be a 2 or 3 day work week. Sometimes the company asks more and you just have to say yes.
Some guys get bent out of shape on the 'tougher' months.
The big problem is only hitting 3 destinations. 5 day work week and the same destinations can get very old, very quick hehe.

Re: Morningstar caravan
Do pilots load cargo, refuel, de-ice, etc or is that contracted out?

Thanks Schnitzel, one last question. Can you be based in YYZ for the 757 as well?

Re: Morningstar caravan
Anyone hear back from Morningstar after applying in the last few weeks?
