I have heard from some people that they end up with 8 days off a month, and management tries to screw pilots on those days, it must be awesome for the commuters.

As for training the company only pays a hotel room for the duration of 2 weeks, some guys sleep in their car after that. I can't believe AC has anything to do with ggn.

Ahh the classic "I've heard".

11 GDO's as per the CBA, you get a hotel for the duration of your groundschool and sim training and no, management doesn't screw anyone over on days off. The guys who get 8 GDO's do so because they sign up for what's called option days, where you voluntarily surrender a maximum of 3 days off for some pretty good pay. If you're off and you get a call from company for draft, you simply don't answer your phone unless you want the extra $$. It's a seniority based system, so if you're at the bottom, like any company, commuting isn't ideal. If you're at or near the top, it's hard to beat.

Define pretty good...

I'd say $100 a FLT hour would be reasonable, not good, but reasonable.
