Dispatcher-trip coordinator TO pilot??

Hello,

Has anyone that wanted to be part of the flight team in a charter or corporate environment ever started in the dispatch office role and eventually move in the cockpit of the aircraft?

Curious to hear from anyone or is starting in the dispatch -flight coordinator showing desperation to get that pilot gig?

It's the same as working the ramp or being a flight attendant and paying your dues as a PIW.
