Daily points based rate? (Alkan medevac?)
What is a "Daily points based rate starting at $335 to $395/day?"
Is that just a fancy way to say daily pay here are the rates?
So $80,400 to $94,800 per year Yukon King Air Captain correct?

The more complicated they can make it, the more money they can keep from you.
But ya, I would guess it's just a fancy way of saying day rate... But i'm going to hazard a guess that you don't get full rate if you don't get a call out.

It sounds like they probably have a daily base pay plus mileage/air time/flight time/duty time/legs flown, or whatever. You can either look at it as those evil overlords keeping you down or you can see it as a sort of instant profit sharing where more earned for the company = more earned for you. It’s really a matter of how mad you want to be from day to day.

Nice that they put the pay out there, but its really confusing to figure out what that would typically equate to in terms of take home at the end of the day.

Email HR if you’ve got questions. Or go with the speculation and guesses in the replies here!

That’s a lot of days worked for not a lot of money.
Especially for what it costs to live in Whitehorse.
Unless there’s mileage or hourly on top.. which I thought Alkan did, you can do a lot better as a King Air skipper in cheaper and less remote places to live.

If you take your annual salary and divide it by the days you work, you can get a better points based rate at nearly every western King Air operator there is.
I'm making $450 a day.

Where? What's your schedule? Are they hiring?

Does anyone have any up to date information on FO pay for Alkan Air?

That's not terrible money, but 10/5 sucks.

Re: Daily points based rate? (Alkan medevac?)
This is not the case. The day rate is the same regardless of if you get called in or not.TheRealMcCoy wrote: ↑Tue Aug 21, 2018 4:36 pm The more complicated they can make it, the more money they can keep from you.

The 10 on 5 off is misleading for those used to sched flying because you are not expected to come in to work if you don't have a flight. On average medevac pilots fly about 60 percent of days scheduled.
Almost everything in Whitehorse is within a 10 minute drive of the airport so a pilot can do almost any activity in the city while on call and the on call rotation (first, second, third, forth up) follows a fair process.
