A&P licence-----Aviation experience?

Can you get an A&P and not have any aviation experience? I know we used to joke and say the A&P was out of a Cracker Jack box but in reality with a M you need to prove experience and do a supervised task at an approved facility.

It was in reference to the Coulson add. Razzing the HR department. As mentioned previously the HR people don't usually know an AME from a Cowboy so their adds are sometimes interesting to read.
