Employers requiring current PPCs
Geez did I say that....? Or just think it....?
Re: Employers requiring current PPCs
I wonder how many, out of the hundreds of applications they are sure to get, will actually be current.

Re: Employers requiring current PPCs
Yeah, I’m pretty sure everyone who has a current BE20 PPC is already working. Between medevac for this COVID BS and charter work to make up for airlines shutting down, there’s lots of work at this level.
It just isn’t advertised anymore because there’s no need to convince anyone to not apply to Jazz or Encore. Unless you are in a reality distortion field like these clowns.

You figure? I bet there’s an awful lot of BE20 FOs who left their jobs in the last year for Porter/Sunwing/Transat (to name an obvious few) who are beginning to think that they may not get called back for a while...iflyforpie wrote: ↑Fri Jun 26, 2020 5:20 pm Yeah, I’m pretty sure everyone who has a current BE20 PPC is already working.

Re: Employers requiring current PPCs
I know quite a few who managed to segue back into their former positions because the pilot shortage still meant their positions were vacant and the ramp up in demand guaranteed them a spot.
I guess maybe if it’s looking like months or years and CEWS or pogey isn’t going to do it... but times ticking on current PPCs. I seriously doubt that someone settled into a southern 705 job is going to pack up and go north to the kind of place that demands a current PPC.
At least I hope they don’t.

Me too, hell I almost am one, but I know more who just stuck their heads in the sand back in March. Not all have yet figured out how serious the situation is but little by little I imagine they will.iflyforpie wrote: ↑Sat Jun 27, 2020 8:59 am I know quite a few who managed to segue back into their former positions

Summer in Frobay? Sign me up. But I only want $1000 a month...don't want to mess up my CEWS payment.
Re: Employers requiring current PPCs
Not sure about the rest of you but I had to look up the meaning of segue

I had to look up the spelling... because it’s not spelled like the name of the virginity-preserving two wheeled “personal transporter”.
It’s because I’ve played a lot is music that I know the word.

Re: Employers requiring current PPCs
I'll give the same FU to employers requiring references pre-listed on my resume:
viewtopic.php?f=7&t=139443
If I started spewing my references' names to every place I applied to, and they started getting calls they weren't expecting, they would likely start becoming far less willing to answer those calls.
So no, in short, that requirement is a showstopper for me. I mean, hell, I haven't even mentioned "references available on request" in years now. It's just assumed.

Hell no. I respect my references' time. Clearly you do not. I ask each and every one of them for permission first, and for each and every potential employer I forward their names to. Until you are seriously considering hiring me, you have no need to check references.References required on your resume.

I will dance the sky on laughter-silvered wings.
