Buffalo Rampie!!!
anybody want to be the new Hay River rampie for Buffalo Airways?
Re: Buffalo Rampie!!!
Maybe you should send the offer to a tallent agency instead and address it as "Ice Pilots is looking for a new reality STAR!!!" That might get some hits.

Re: Buffalo Rampie!!!
You know, if there was some mathematical certainty to getting into a driver's seat, I might in some wacky alternate universe actually consider being a rampie. But all it is is a source of cheap motivated labor for Joe with 'results not typical' drivers providing a source of inspiration.
Tell anybody (and I mean anybody) without a pilot's license to do that type of work with that schedule and wage and this would probably be the result.
Although this job should make for some interesting entertainment...
Geez did I say that....? Or just think it....?

Re: Buffalo Rampie!!!
Sounds like a decent offer to me. The ramp sucks, but not as bad as waiting tables, wishing you were around airplanes. Without going into all the philosophy and politics of working for peanuts and taking some abuse here and there, I would hop on this offer if I were a newbie.

quote="jimmy north"]If you can stay positive its really not that bad[/quote]
How can you stay positive working for shit wages starvying to death, hoping one day you'll get the flight attendant spot. After watching season 1, I would quite flying before I worked for Joe.

To put things in perspective:
I get paid about equivalent to a brand new captain on the DC-3/C-46-ish. They make just a little bit more per month. (I fly a small single in the bush, West of BC)
But with my time I'd probably put on the ramp at buffalo.

Quote from Ice Pilots NWT (Transatlantic crossing episode):
IMHO, "rampie" was an intermediate step for me to pay my way through flight school, "flight attendant" was an intermediate step for my ex-girl to lay on a "real" pilot.

Re: Buffalo Rampie!!!
Its still just simple math... there are way more people out there in Canada with Pilot licenses than seats up front....

Like Krash said...It's simple math. There aren't enough flying jobs right now. Yes it is a shitty job and no I don't think it's right for companies like Buffalo (and many other) to take advantage of low time pilots but it's one way to get into the industry.
