Looks like there is still a pulse. Also heard that these guys didn't recieve their last paychecks either, and right before X-mas time. That's really too bad. Hope you guys are able to find jobs soon. The parent company of East Coast Airways has temporarily pulled the plug on the new Maritime airline less than a month after it started flying out of Halifax Stanfield International Airport.
Based in Halifax, East Coast Airways began flying at the end of November as a division of Integra Air Inc., based in Alberta. The air taxi service was to fly to Charlottetown and Saint John, as well as Yarmouth and Sydney in Nova Scotia.
Brent Gateman, the president of Integra Air Inc., told CBC News on Thursday that the airline's operations were temporarily suspended because there were concerns not all safety procedures were being followed.
"It's harmful to the startup and the moving forward of the company by shutting it down, but an accident and somebody dying is not worth that," Gateman said in a telephone interview from Lethbridge, Alta.
"Before safety became a concern, that had to be priority one, and we'll deal with the outcomes from there."
Gateman said the aircraft were always dispatched in a safe manner, but the paperwork was not filed in a timely fashion, and aircraft were able to take off without authorization.
"When safety becomes a concern, we took the best action possible of grounding the aircraft and readjusting our procedures."
In October, CBC News learned that Jay Hasson — president of operations for East Coast Airways — was being pursued by angry creditors in the U.S. who said they were owned hundreds of thousands of dollars and were unable to track Hasson down.
At the time, Hasson said it was a misunderstanding, and he had simply forgotten to take his name off all the legal papers.
Hasson could not be reached for comment on Thursday.
Gateman said Hasson will no longer be with the company, but that decision was not due to financial concerns.
"Right now we are in talks with a new partner," he said. "They are not confirmed yet, but right now, based on the process that we have going on, Mr. Hasson will be stepping aside and another individual will be stepping in."
The website for East Coast Airways was taken down on Tuesday, the same day officials at the Halifax Stanfield International Airport found out the airline was ceasing operations.
The website developer said he suspended the East Coast Airways account because of non-payment.

The J31 has not flown in 10 days but it has also not left Halifax to go back to Lethbridge. Any more news on these folks?

They don't have a spare crew to send out to Halifax to pick up the plane. You'd think the lessor could at least use the East Coast crews to ferry the airplane back to Alberta.

Re: East Coast Airways
Was thru YHZ recently, the East Coast Airways plane, which was parked just down the ramp from the Provincial hangar (near where the medevac flights were) is now gone. I heard from some ramp contacts it went back to Alberta. I think this means that East Coast Airways is now officially dead.
Sad news.

Remember this quote??
"Right now we are in talks with a new partner," he said. "They are not confirmed yet, but right now, based on the process that we have going on, Mr. Hasson will be stepping aside and another individual will be stepping in."
