Execaire B1900 position in Africa
Hey folks, what's with this job post in Mauritania?? Is it legit and safe...or are you dogging bullets out of a small airstrip with your overweight 1900 stocked with ammo and illegal supplies with your min fuel??
Just kidding...any comments are appreciated.

Re: Execaire B1900 position in Africa
As far as Africa goes, Nouakchott is a pretty safe city, although it is a shitty place to be based with respect to services, cleanliness and pretty high on the TIA scale.
I'm a little surprised at what they are asking for though, usually this type of work is rotation, not permanently based in a hole like this. Rotation would be good though, if the money is good, with good per diem, and depending on who the client is one might qualify for the overseas employment tax credit as well.

The client is Kinross Gold and the base is the Canary Islands, thus the right to work in Spain.
Re: Execaire B1900 position in Africa
If that's the case then this can perhaps count towards the purpose of exploration and qualify for the overseas employment tax credit.
Re: Execaire B1900 position in Africa
If you get to Noaukchott check out the Aero Club at the airport. Its a DC4/bar. No alcohol but Coka or Fanta.
I think the legs are Canary Is, Noaukchott and Morroco or Tunisa but maybe the base will be Mauritania.
The1900 still has Air Canada on the side, must have departed in a hurry or the owners are to chep to remove it, you decide.

Re: Execaire B1900 position in Africa
So are we talking about the same Air Georgian's 1900 that went to Africa or is this a completely different operator/airplane???
Re: Execaire B1900 position in Africa
Still trying to connect Ken Rowe with Kinross but I'm not sure if its a new machine and contract
Re: Execaire B1900 position in Africa
Nouakchott is huge shit hole. You'd have to pay me an insane amount of money to be based there full time with no rotations. Looking from the air it's hard to believe it's a capital city when all you see are a few small, rundown buildings through the haze of sand... ha.

Looks like they realized nobody wants to live in Nouakchott, surprise surprise. Now with a 4 week on, 4 week off, the gig could be good with the right money...

Ok guys, so you all made it very clear that NKC is boring, and I am not going to argue. but it has everything you may need, restaurants, sport club, night clubs, etc. Please come so I wont be stuck here alone.(just kidding). All I want to say that the place is very survivable.and not too many pilots around here.
Good luck

Is this where you are? Give us a recent picture of the Aero Club and the DC-4
Re: Execaire B1900 position in Africa
very old thread I know....but I can't find any information about how much execaire pays their pilots for the contract in Mauritania. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.
Re: Execaire B1900 position in Africa
Why don't you ask Execaire?
"What's it doing now?"
"Fly low and slow and throttle back in the turns."

OETC will be completely phased out by the end of 2016, no qualification unless the contract was committed to before March 29 2012.
Might be worth checking out when the contract was in place, probably make a big difference to what actually goes in your pocket, and what goes to the CRA?

Greetings all. Anyone got any calls for this position? Tried to follow-up by calling HR but that place seems a Bastion. Always on voicemail.

Because they will likely avoid answering the question and respond with a "do you want the job or not?"xsbank wrote:Why don't you ask Execaire?

I think the OETC is a thing long of the past. It is finished AFAIKKK7 wrote:As far as Africa goes, Nouakchott is a pretty safe city, although it is a shitty place to be based with respect to services, cleanliness and pretty high on the TIA scale.
