DEC posting
Colour me confused but does anyone else not understand what they require for a DEC?
Qualifications (the following minimum qualifications are required prior to offer of employment):
Legally entitled to work in Canada
Transport Canada Airline Transport Pilot’s License (ATPL)
2000 hours total time (fixed-wing preferred)
250 hours fixed-wing pilot-in-command time (multi-engine or high performance single engine turbine PIC preferred)
250 hours fixed-wing multi-engine time (high performance single engine multi-crew turbine can be included towards your multi-engine experience ie. PC-12)
250 hours multi-crew experience
Valid Transport Canada Group 1 instrument rating
Valid Transport Canada Class 1 medical certificate
High School diploma
Oral and written proficiency in English
Current valid passport (and a Canadian Permanent Resident Card if you are not a holder of a Canadian passport)
All required visas or travel documents allowing you to freely travel unrestricted
Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC) obtained prior to the completion of Initial Ground School
Clear police background and criminal record checks
As per our Alcohol and Drug Policy all offers of employment are conditional on passing a pre-employment alcohol and drug screening test.
Captain Qualifications:
The following minimum flight time is required for all applicants to be considered for a captain position.
Total Time
DHC-8-400 Time Required
4000 +500
3500 750
3000 1000
2500 1250
2000 1500
So 2000TT etc gets you in the door but you still need 1000 hours in the airplane before you can upgrade?

The part I quoted looks pretty cut and dry to me.yycinformer wrote: ↑Sun May 27, 2018 12:17 am Captain Qualifications:

If you have 2000TT you require 1500 time on type to enter as direct entry Captain.
If you have 2500TT, you require 1250 time on type ...so on and so forth. All while meeting the requirements set out above.

Re: DEC posting
Yes, it’s commonly referred to as their matrix, so if you joined with 2000TT, by the time you have 1000 on type you would meet the 3000 to 1000 matrix. At least, that’s my interpretation.

Re: DEC posting
This is correct. It’s actually not too confusing. They just want you to have a certain amount of dash/705 time based on your total time for an upgrade.

Re: DEC posting
Isn't there some sort of equivilancy for classic Dash and ATR time as well? Perhaps I'm mistaken.

Re: DEC posting
They count half the time for another 705 machine...I think Dash 8 classic falls into this category.
