Depends on where you fit into the upgrade matrix. There's a minimum time on weight category that needs to be met, but you get reductions from that requirement for time on other types (rj, dash, ATR etc) ,even B1900 in an airline capacity. You also get reductions for time with the company, however there are limits to how much credit reduction can be given. Could be anywhere from a few months to a couple of years but that's all dependant on available capt spots. There is ongoing hiring and expansion so spots need to be filled.

Under the current plan and you meet the upgrade requirements it would be about 6-8 months.

If you don't meet the upgrade requirements then you'd fit into a matrix depending on previous experience.

As per the CBA the minimum requirements to upgrade to Captain/PIC at Flair are:
1. 5000 hours “Total Flight Time”
2. 2000 hours “Total Flight Time on Jets over 100,000lbs.”

Note: For each year at Flair a pilot may reduce their “Total Flight Time” by 500 hours per
year to a maximum reduction of 1000 hours.

Notwithstanding the above requirements Flair may take into account other experience and
allow a pilot to reduce the “Total Flight Time on Jets over 1000,000lbs” requirements for
upgrade according to the following matrix:

1. Jet PIC Airline (705/704) on EMB170/190 or CRJ 700-1000 – over 2000 PIC hours
qualify for upgrade.
2. Jet PIC Airline (705/704) on RJ/EMB – 1 to 1 credit for PIC hours to a maximum credit of
1500 hours towards the “Total Flight Time on Jets over 100,000lbs.”
3. Turboprop PIC Q400/similar Airline (705/704) – 1000 hours or more PIC reduces
requirement to 1000 hours “Total Flight Time on Jets over 100,000lbs.”
4. Turboprop PIC B1900/similar Airline (705/704) – 1000 hours or more PIC reduces
requirement to 1500 hours “Total Flight Time on Jets over 100,000lbs.”
5. Jet SIC Airline (705/704) on RJ/EMB – 2 to 1 credit to a maximum credit of 1000 hours
towards “Total Flight Time on Jets over 100,000lbs.”

*Options above cannot be combined.
*A reduction of more than 1500 hours will not be permitted.
* The term Airline refers to Canadian 705 (or 704) operations or the foreign equivalent.
* Matrix eligibility is any First Officer employed by Flair.
* The intent for options 2-5 is to ensure the candidate has completed an initial and at least
one recurrent simulator session(s). [in most cases a minimum of 6 months at Flair from final
initial line check]

Hello,
Can someone release a comment on how the training will look like for an already type rated FO?
Thanks

That would depend on if you're still current on type with a PPC within the last 6 months to a year and if you were used to a Boeing SOP.

If you were current and we could match you with a current typed sim partner then we would likely run a short course which would consist of 4 sim sessions and a PPC.

We have what we call the Lower Mainland base which is comprised of CYXX and CYVR. We don't anticipate any more flying from CYXX and our focus is entirely on the higher yields from CYVR.

Currently we're only recruiting for CYYZ, there is a possibility of further hiring for the CYVR base later this year depending on aircraft deliveries and winter schedule.

Mix of DEC's nd FO's. It is a very competitive environment now and I'd expect some captain qualified candidates to be less than competitive and accept FO spots knowing that growth will move them into eh left seat quickly.

Noticed on their job posting on PCC they’re hiring for 737NG/MAX. Do they have Max’s on hand/order already?

The pay scale is very good for both Captains and First Officers. Enough for a pretty good lifestyle. Is it the best? Probably not, but it definitely isn't the worst. Plus the people are really great there and work very hard to make it a successful airline. And to see a job posting there is a really promising sign for the future.

Merry Christmas!

Judging by the contract rudder posted, I wouldn't go as far as to say its very good. It looks decent though. That being said, it's definitely not the worst. Swoop takes that prize. At least the new FO's at Flair will be starting much higher than AC or WJ.

I wonder how many laid off Westjet guys who laughed at Flair's transition to ULCC flying will end up begging for a job there. Oh the irony. How in the hell is Flair even able to hire right now? Something must be brewing. Can anyone from Flair share any details? In either case it's but a silver lining in what has been the worst year in decades.

I heard there are interviews going on this month, I was wondering: is it just to build a bank of candidates for the future or will these people be offered a job immediately?
