FEAST

Hello all

I was recently informed that Nav Canada is using a new method of testing called the FEAST. From what I’ve heard it’s the same method used by EUROCONTROL to assess potential ATC candidates. Can anyone one here elaborate as to what this system is like and what stages of the old system does it replace? Will the still be online testing? Will there still be a telephone interview? How long is this new process ?

Thank you

Hi, i've done the FEAST.

It replaces the paper based (w-sim) in-person assessment session. The FEAST is a computer based testing. If successful, you're moved onto the "boot camp" 2 days at the ACC. I believe the new process is quite fast. Should take 6 months ish to get into the pool. Depending on the FIR of course.

Can you tell me about the FEAST process, what type of questions they ask , spatial reasoning, numerical, verbal?

What exactly is the boot camp ?

If this new process replaced the W-Sim in persons assessment and it's now a computer-based testing, shouldn't that be almost instant after sucesssfully complete the online 8 minutes test ?.
I did mine back in november 2018 and still haven't had any news since...
I had the same process last year and it took about 2-3 weeks to get the phone interview afterward.

Good day!

So to be clear, the initial step in the process is the 8 minute online test and the essay, then the people who who do well gets invited to FEAST at the ACC then the third stage is the 2 day boot Camp? I understand that this process is new and there isn’t much information on it yet.

His first post from 2016 indicates he made it as far as the phone interview.

For those of you that have some feast, is it terribly math heavy?? What kind of math is on it? Should I be brushing up on trig etc??? Or are we talking about simple addition subtraction multiplication division?
Are there many questions that do the whole "a train is travelling at x speed on the same track that a train travels y speed, at what time will they converge" etc
Thanks!

The math you need to know for FEAST is how to add, subtract, multiply and divide. All in single digits too.

I found it mainly consists of testing multi tasking and spacial reasoning abilities. Hard to prepare for something like that either you got it or you don't...

This job isn’t about math, so no fractions

All the math you need you’ve covered in elementary school - probably before grade 4

Well.
I did feast today.

For those of you who made the cut - how did you feel leaving feast??
Did you feel confident or like you just shit the bed?
Did you find you finished each test early or near the end?

Being the first one to finish, I first felt great... then the uncertainty kicked in.

I attribute finishing early to the fact that I am very familiar with the basics of headings that they had a long introduction about.

Just one more question about FEAST, is there any general knowledge or English vocabulary section ?
