YQT to Southern Ontario on floats
I usually only fly from my camp to nearby lakes, not much more than a 45 minute flight, typically. A friend invited me to fly to his camp in Southern Ontario, Orr Lake. It is about 500 NM from CYQT. I am thinking this would be an adventure and am wondering if skirting the big lakes is my best option or look inland for small lakes? I could bring fuel but I would think this is not necessary. The big lakes could be too rough to use if needed so inland might be better? I don't have a water drome supplement. Is it worth it? I think they are phasing them out as with many printed documents anyways. I could ask on the Seaplane page too ( https://www.facebook.com/groups/213790595317592/ ) but thought I would throw the question out here first.
Anybody have good stopping spots? Places for fuel? Suggestions?
Cessna 172, straight floats
Thanks
Shawn

I did the reverse from Picton. I stopped in Orillia, Sudbury, Wawa, Marathon.
I had a couple Jerry cans with me too and stopped at a couple of lakes. There's a place outside of SSM with a float base but apparently waves can get big.

Is this being planned now or for next spring/summer?
Black air has no lift - extra fuel has no weight

It can be done YQT -Hornpain- Wawa- Sudbury- Orirllia- Orr lake. There maybe fuel in Elliot Lake next year but not sure..
Re: YQT to Southern Ontario on floats
If you decide to come via the Soo, let me know, I can help you with fuel/logistics. The Bushplane Museum downtown (CPX8 has docks and fuel available, but it can be a little tricky to get in and out of with the current, boats and shipping tankers. It can always be done, but most of us haul fuel manually to less irritating locations.
From here I'd go along the north shore and then south to Parry Sound. Then Orr lake. 200 NM or so.

If you get off track to the east, we have fuel in Huntsville. Should be a nice trip. Pretty civilized all the way.
