Most Northerly Operator
Who in Canada operates with an active base the furthest north? Just a random question...
Re: Most Northerly Operator
Borek is still there year round with 1 plane more in the summer.MapleFlag wrote:Up to 10/15 years ago, (maybe longer its been awhile since I was there) it would have been Bradley Air Services and Kenn Borek Air in Resolute Bay, CYRB. Borek use to have a sked flight to Grise Fiord in those years. I think Borek might still positions an airplane to CYRB in the summer months for seasonal charter work.
Re: Most Northerly Operator
There are usually a few otters in YRB. They do a lot of work for the polar shelf projects and numerous others. Still doing flights to grise and cambridge bay from YRB in the otter as well sometimse basler and a twin otter will be in Eureka for a couple weeks at a time too. The next closest would prob. be Adlair in Cambridge? Up until some time in mid 2008 there was a King air based in YRB doing skeds to pond, igloolik, iqaluit and then cambridge.

Re: Most Northerly Operator
CFB Alert..otherwise Borek and First Air in YRB
Re: Most Northerly Operator
I'll hand this one to Borek. We (First Air) just operate through YRB on sched with an overnight there. We do have maintenance there but Borek's hanger is still further north than ours by a thousand feet or so

Most northern float operator I believe is DAL Aviation in Cambridge Bay
What little I do know is either not important or I've forgotten it!

Re: Most Northerly Operator
CFB Alert is a military base that requires permision for use by private and civil A/C, but is definately the furthest north.
ettw is right about CYRB boreks hanger has got about a 1/4 mile or so on the Bradly (first air) hanger (if you could call it that).
When i was up in CYRB borek had a otter and king air or b99 through out the winter. In the summer months they would tend to have 3 - 4 otters as well as the king air. 2 otters were usualy on contract to the PCSP, and the other 2 worked explorartion and other charter work.
Hey ETTW was great to chat with ya again the other night, keep in touch could see you in the east soon.
