I have a question. If I go to lets say Botswana with a TC-CPL and get myself a 1000PIC lets say. How do I log these hours? Can I count them towards a TC-ATPL? How are canadian employers reacting to these hours/experience? I mean it sounds like a great thing, but what are the realistic benefits for the future? Thanks guys.
Cheers

Glad to see lots of people are enjoying this post, the flying is top shelf now that the rains have started to slam us. Where else can you play with a plane in the mud, eh!
Just a heads up to all the ambitious pilots thinking of coming over....there are currently 24-27 pilots here now looking for work. Sefofane is hiring 5 people in the next few weeks and I expect the other companies will hire 1-2 each by the first week of January 2011.

Hey,
I'm looking at heading over next fall in search of adventure and work, and was wondering if I should do my MIFR before I go? or would single engine IFR be good enough?
Thanks for all the info!

Nice to see this thread alive again. I've returned to the great white north and almost finished the best float season of my life, so far....
I seriously encourage and push anyone looking for a new bush flying adventure to head to Botswana and 'live the dream'. I'll never forget my days of punching holes in the africa sky and I highly doubt they are over.

Can we expect to see some footage of your flying in the North? I enjoyed your online episodes from Africa and look forward to more.

As mentioned above, it would be nice to have Bostwana bound-like videos of your flying in the north.

Hi,
Do you need to bring a police clearance certificate?

I just finished the season flying floats in the NWT out of Simpson and it topped Africa but there really is nothing like being in your own country.
Will do some vidoes next season now that I'm comfortable with the terrain and job. Thanks for the encouragement!!
As for the police clearance, it's a really smart idea. It may not be actually required any longer but it helps the work visa process along. The more papers you have that look official with stamps on them the more the Botswana Government gets a boner. They love that shit! It's like 20 bucks from your local rcmp distpatch and it only took me 10 days to get. PM me for any further info you need. Still know all the guys there and would love to see another more more Canucks over there.

Anyone with more recent news on the situation over in Botswana?
How is the hiring going ect...?
From pprune it sounds like it's a lot more difficult to find a job without 500-800hours TT
