6 Provinces, 1 Territory, 46 nights sleeping in his car / camping, 3 roadkill, 1 girl in North Bay (story still to be told), 1 speeding ticket = a start to his aviation career.
Dave Radford here, previous Botswana / Zambia pilot and Dean Austin, previous 172 wide body - heavy metal flying for http://www.simpsonair.ca would like to welcome and send out a , "you can do it to anyone who has the ambition and drive". Congrats and Welcome Serge (what the fucks his last name).
As well, why are we the first charter company to give him a place to sleep!!! Seriously guys, this guy traversed the entire country coast to coast looking for his first gig. He got it with us for freeze up on the 172 heavy - wide body.
This is a story to be told, a congrats to be shared, a reminder that we all started somewhere and needed a place to sleep.
This post is open to those who met the French Guy from NB and wanna say hello, for those who want to know that you can get that first job from a cross country trip and to give a little shit to those who let him sleep in his car.
The Simpson Air 172 job is now filled.

Congrats! Out of curiosity, what was the rough cost of gasoline for this adventure? What vehicle did he use? I will likely have to do a similar trip next spring (though I hope it will be just a tad shorter ).

I met you in Yellowknife at our float base!
Congrats on finding work my friend!
If you had shown up in the spring there would have been plenty of work.
Enjoy the NWT and the Nahanni area, this is the start of an amazing experience!
Good to see a fellow MFC'er working in the north!!
I believe the vehicle used was a white two door Neon, correct me if I am wrong!

The blue couch in your pic has some stories to tell as well.
The only three things a wingman should ever say: 1. "Two's up" 2. "You're on fire" 3. "I'll take the fat one"

I'm sure hoping that girl in North Bay wasn't my wife DHC
Re: 18,239 km, 50+ charter companies, 46 days = First Flying
Wow! That trip reminds me of one my father took my family on in 1979. We saw the most of the country, from coast to coast. I hope you enjoyed the ride.
Congrats on the job. I figured you'd find something.

Thank you !! I have a 98 Neon which burn about 6-7 L/100Km. I'm estimating around 1700-1800$ in fuel give or take (fuel cost vary from 1.07-1.49 across canada) total cost of the trip was about 2500$....Sleeping mostly in my car, trying to spend week-end at family's and friend's to bring the cost of the trip down... I had a great time traveling across how beautiful country!!
Where will you start you trip from ?

Wow, this is not bad at all for such a long trip. I expected a much higher figure.I'm estimating around 1700-1800$ in fuel give or take (fuel cost vary from 1.07-1.49 across canada) total cost of the trip was about 2500$
Will head from Vancouver to SK, MB and ON. No stops are planned in BC interior or AB (I am interested in floatplane jobs only). Anyway, best of luck and have fun!Where will you start you trip from ?
