Looking for December 2014 Snap On Flyer

Post by CamAero »

Looking for a little help out there Internets.

In December of last year, I ordered a set of the new Snap On WTS6 Wave Jaw lockwire twister pliers.

The dealer committed to getting me the December pricing on them.

They only just arrived in February. They are sweet. Completely new design and I am sooo happy to see the "Wave Jaw" back again.

BUT ~ I have misplaced my flyer, and the dealer and I are at a stalemate as to what they were worth.

The flyer price was $117.00. I know that. They are now up over $200.00.

The dealer finds it unlikely that the markdown was more than 10-15% AND, he is unable to produce a December 2014 flyer.

I know I am correct on this one. But, looking for a little help here.

I have contacted Snap On Canada Customer Service and they claim not to have access to the past flyers (I know; hard to believe.. but wtf )

If anybody has either:

A) The December Flyer or;
B) A receipt for the purchase of the WTS6 pliers on the December special,

Could you please drop me a PM.

Would sure appreciate.

Thanks in advance,

CA

What you should do is hand the dealer back the pliers and say "keep them" for two reasons. First is if he won't honour the sale price or acknowledge that there was a December flyer, then screw him. Second, you do not need lockwire twisters anyways. Twist the wire by hand.

Ummm. No.

I've worn out 3 sets of twister pliers to date (over 17 years). Use them every day.

Anyhow, as an addendum to the story, I did indeed find the flyer.

It turned out though, that this flyer in question was for Snap On "Industrial".

The pricing in there was better than my dealer is getting wholesale, to sell off of his truck.

So; no dice for me.

In essence, he cut me some slack however. I had an $800 bill wracked up with him on a whack of other items and he knocked 100 off.

He was surprised and perplexed as to how I came by the flyer. He said he had never even seen an Industrial division flyer.

The industrial side sells only to government, military or large aerospace / manufacturers.

I got it from another AME who told me he got it from his Snap On dealer, in another town. I never recognized it as being anything different than the normal sales flyer.

On closer inspection, it was

A) marked "Industrial Sales Only" and

B) valid September through December.

Should have paid more attention. But oh well.

The pliers are sweet.

Lol.

You sound like one of my old instructors who said that they could do lockwire by hand much faster and better. Back in the day I might have believed him, but not any more. Not only can I twist much faster with lockwire pliers... ...but that fabled 'tight first twist' is not needed when you move the wire in a conical fashion while still rotating the pliers.

*************

$117 sounds low... I'm sure I paid more than that in the early naughties for mine.

lock wire by hand?

I have the soft hands of a teenage geisha and I'd like to keep them that way.

Low it is; The "Industrial Division" specials are incredible.

Everything I saw in there was about half of what they retail for off of the truck.

It's just not an option available to the peons though...

Totally depends on your rep. I have purchased industrial stuff in the past off the truck. .but after the krl1033 purchase my taste for owning snap on has decreased a bunch.
