Gee...we cant find people to work for us so we need contractors, but we don't really want to pay anything, so we should be able to find lots of guys wanting to drive 250km roundtrip daily for $5 a/hr more an hour than our top payroll rate.
My God, we are so brilliant and thanks to saxon for helpng us with implementing it.

I thought it was closer to $45 from what some of the old guys were telling me, but whatever. What is being offered now, in particular the 125 km radius cutoff, is phuking bullshit. What was a house 15 years ago there, like $160000, fuel around 70 cent a/liter, hotels $50 a night or better, etc, etc, etc.
Even if someone "qualifies" for the "premium rate", your either burning through 250km PLUS driving your own vehicle a day or coughing up for a hotel room and eating out. Maybe they want AME's to snuggle up in multiples per room, for the glory of working on airplanes.

What a effed up offer/trend.

Thank You Kelowna Flightcrap and Suckson contracting for your amazing offers. I hope it bites you both right in the nuts.

Hard.

I would actually have to agree with pat on this one. Those numbers might be fine for an unlicensed stooge but 2.50 cents an hour more for lic. WTF. Over

I would more likely get in trouble for mentioning CID and all the associated things he doesn't like me mentioning. Just saying..

Why would we libel Pat for a simple comment like this? It is far from providing potentially dangerous advice about things like I've seen some do...

I read it as " do I want to libel anybody else?"

Either way, whatever, lol.

Pat,

Sorry, I don't know anything about AME wages, but what is the going rate for structures AME's?

Well, I guess it depends on how many are taking the shit offers like the thread topic. If they are having no trouble filling spaces with that kind of offer, I'd say market conditions are favorable for employers. If they are having trouble, I'd suggest one would be in the high 40's/low $50's range for contractors(with accommodation/perdium) if there licensed/good. Payroll, I'd say look at what some of the ads say, but Flightcrap looks to top out at $32 a/hr( ) for M guys, so I don't see S guys too far off but probably are a little higher.
Personally, Im a firm believer in "You pay peanuts, you get monkey's", as I've seen that play out many times in this biz.

This might change as I see even Premire is now advertising(finally) that their wage's now go to $36 a/hr. Im very suspicious of that and what exactly the scenario would be for anybody to get paid that by them. Would love to hear details if anybody has them. "too good to be true" comes to mind.
If they are offering that much on payroll, it puts the Suxson/Flightcrap contract offer into an even shittier light.

slightly better than Suxson on paper, but shitier when factoring the cost of obtaining accommadation in the GTA...
be clearing an encore type wage after expenses. didnt ever think I'd live to se the day where contractors taking home less hourly than an employee is considered "normal".

As per the Bank of Canada Inflation calculator, what you were making in 2000 would be 53.30$/hour in 2015 !!!

Is anybody saw a contracting agency offering that kind of money... ?
