I'm an apprentice with an accreditation on Avionics.
I heard M1 and M2 logbooks are supposed to be separate but not sure about E rating.
It seems like all E rating tasks are included in M1/M2 rating tasks.
So I'm wondering if I just need 2 logbooks for M1 and M2, or need 3rd one for E rating?

Some people say you need separate logbooks for M1 and M2, but in my case I only have one logbook and I got my M1 and 2. It all depends on your inspector. There's no right answer to this question. If I start over again I would use 2 logbooks just to be save, but if you have gone too far, then finger crosses, it should be fine.
Re: How many logbooks do I need?
One for M1 and one for M2.
This has been recently clarified. You can use the same physical logbook but you still need to fill 70% of the tasks for each rating.
The E and S categories have there own extra sections that also need to be completed.

MJLee,
Here is a nice program that was developed by an apprentice to keep track of your completed tasks and easily see if you're at the 70% mark.
