E-Rating Base On Foreign License & Experience

Post by greasemonkey40 »

Greetings Chaps,

My family and I are planning to immigrate and would like to know the aviation industry in Canada. I am working here in Dubai for more than 10 years as an LAE with both UAE-GCAA (B2) & an EASA A/B1.1/B2 AME licenses. My questions are the following:

- What are the salary rate of an E-Rated Engineer/Technician?

- I know there is no direct conversion from a foreign AMEL to a TC license, however what are the exams do I need to take?

- Where could I get the study materials online in order to pass the exams?

- How do I book for an exam as I see that there is no schedules published online? (so I could plan my leave)

- What kind of visa should I have in order to sit on the exams?

Not aware of any recognition of a foreign license. The only thing that may be recognized is the experience. Study material is whatever you can find. There is no "study material". It is not an A & P. That is completely different. You need to talk to Transport Canada directly and see what experience they accept as well as when and where you could sit for exams. As far as wages, if you are good you may get $40.00 / hour as an employee. As an "in demand" contractor based on merit you will get a little more. Money is poor.
