Ive always understood it as over 2 but under 4 = flight test
Over 4 = inrat & flight test

However with the new IFR regs it might make it exempt from the inrat

No INRAT rewrite anymore.

You will have to do a check out flight in a sim with an IPC/ACP. I did it a few months back, no big deal. Awaiting the new sticker that doesn't have an expiry on it.

I wrote my INRAT way back in 1996 but haven't kept current in years (all VFR flying for my job). I believe the old rule was a rewrite after 5 years but I could be wrong. Am I now exempt from having to rewrite with the new changes? Thank you.

So if your instrument rating expired more than 5 years ago you don't have to write the written exam anymore?
