Re: Nizus - ATPL Feedback
Hey bro, i cant tell you what to do but lets say that Nizus isnt the best way towards your ATPL.
Good luck.
Good luck.
Re: Nizus - ATPL Feedback
I initially used nizus exclusively for preparing for the atpls. It is OK for the SARON, but not good enough for the samra. Also if you need to do the exams in english, they seem to be translated from french, and some Q's are unclear due to sloppy translation. Honestly it's pretty cheap for the amount of questions you get in the practice exam banks, but don't rely only on nizus. You will probably need more.

It's not important where planes are going ... what's important is to get on !
Re: Nizus - ATPL Feedback
I loved it. Used nizus, sharper edge, . and the classic From the Ground Up.
The benefit of nizus is it gets you actually using the information you're studying in an exam situation. You start thinking about it rather than just reading it over and over. And it corrects the exam and explains what you got wrong and/or points you to the section where you can learn more. It is a great feedback tool.
Yes some of the questions are sloppy but its hard to create 25+ exams that don't have mistakes.
I think it was better for the SARON where the questions are more black and white. The SAMRA questions were not that close to the real exam but still, nizus ties a lot of the information together so on the actual exam I could use my experience from nizus to think critically about the question.

You can choose different length of subscriptions which gives you time to get it done if you are going slow or you can save money and get them done quick. I wish I had known about them earlier because I would have probably done the exams sooner.

I have used nizus for my SARON and passed the exam at Transport. I've found it to be a great tool and very complete. I am currently studying for the SAMRA, will update after the exam.
Good luck in your studies

Re: Nizus - ATPL Feedback
guys, anyone knows how to resolve this sky opacity issue, I kind of don't get it to be very honest, here is an example-
given the following weather report, what is the minimum increase in opacity of the surface based layer at YQY, in order for it to constitute a ceiling?
METAR CYQY 071300Z 09012KT 1/2 SM SN OVC010 M03/M05 A2966 RMK SN5SF3 SLP994=
My question is how do you calculate this? appreciate if someone please give a detailed step by step explanation.
Thank you.

Re: Nizus - ATPL Feedback
Answer: 3/8's
Present opacity of the surface based layer: 5/8
Minimum opacity for a surface based layer to constitute a ceiling: 8/8
Difference: 3/8

Difference: 3/8
Re: Nizus - ATPL Feedback
If you do SAMRA 15 a question will be related to how much sky below an aircraft FL220 is covering ground
Answer is 5/8 to less than 8/8

Re: Nizus - ATPL Feedback
I can't speak for the ATPL practice exams, but if what they offer is anything like their CPL prep, I'd say it's not worth it. A lot of the questions were super weird and it felt like a waste of money. I found the exams on pilotexams.ca to be written much better and the questions were a lot closer to what I saw on the actual TC exam. I guess that's why it was more expensive. It's a shame they don't offer anything for the A's. If there's no better alternative, I guess you don't have much of a choice though. It's not the same thing, but I hear that the ATPL ground school's offered by Aerocourse are really good. They were recommended to me by a friend flying at a 705 operator. Worth a look anyways!

It appears that this thread drifted off topic from the very first post, could we please get back to discussing Cessnas!
