The Chinese students are tested to be "Operational English" before they leave for and once they arrive here in Canada. Among other language tests that a regular student would have to do. these situations sadly still do happen.. though never heard of a student not knowing what a road looks likes.
Kinda like the famous lost student that finds the town of "POOL"
But yes Red Deer is now a far cry from the nice quiet escape from the pissed off tightwadded controllers at Springbank.

There is a lot of truth here and a lot of bullshit. If anyone is convinced that everyone involved with aviation in Red Deer is simply doing nothing to try to improve the overall safety of flying in that area they should simply stop flying at all. Flying the hangar might be better suited for you. The only time the circuit is truly terrifying at YQF is when GGN arrives and cuts off half the airplanes using TCAS advisories as vectors. Probably for the best that service is ending soon.
