Multi ifr training hours
Transport says you need 20 hours dual instruction, subpart says must have 5 hours in type. Does that mean 5 hours dual training in multi engine, and the rest can be in single engine. Some schools quote 10 dual multi and 10 dual single instrument training. Others quote 20 dual multi instrument.

So you could do all your training in a single, then do your ride in a multi... but that is not a recipe for success.Aviatard wrote: ↑Tue Jun 02, 2020 1:42 am 421.46(b) Experience

Re: Multi ifr training hours
I don't get why people think that flying a twin is rocket science. It isn't. I went from a Group 3 to Group 1 IFR with 9 hours of multi time, including the flight tests, and this was back before Redbird sim was a thing. I had several students who did their IFR training on a single then switched to a twin for the last little bit. Yes, it's a few more flight hours total, but do the math - you still save cash.
Why would you do that much dual instrument flight time on a multi if you didn't have to? It's not like you do it with one engine shut down!

Re: Multi ifr training hours
So B doesn't mean 5 hours training in multi ifr?
Re: Multi ifr training hours
No, it just means at least 5 hours in aeroplanes for a fixed wing IFR, or at least 5 hours in helos for the fling wing IFR.

Fling wing
I'm stealing that!
