Choosing Flight Schools

Post by manta »

Good day Everyone,

I am an international student and will be pursuing flight training in Canada this fall. I have a bit of a problem in choosing the correct school.

I have narrowed down to

Harvs Air in Manitoba

Moncton flight college in NB

Coastal Pacific Aviation in BC

I would like to maximise my training to 2 years to get a work permit for 3 years so that I can use it get attain my ATPL. Since Harvs has a pretty good weather for flying, Cpl with Instructor Rating can be done in a year and a half which will give me a 1.5 year work permit. But am not sure if we can hit 1500hrs in that time. Coastal pacific is good and training usually will be completed in 2 years due to the weather, snowfall and all but, they are asking for a down payment of 5 grand. Moncton flight college has a 2 year Diploma with fight training program which is perfect but am not sure about the opportunities in NB compared to the other places. If uall have other schools in mind, do let me know.

Appreciate your 2 cents in this.

Cheers

Why would you want an ATPL? You can work with a CPL in any job you would realistically quality for.

As an AvCanada discussion grows longer:
-the probability of 'entitlement' being mentioned, approaches 1
-one will be accused of using bad airmanship

Pretty sure that’s what he meant.
Getting his ATPL by working as a CPL holder, during his 3 year work permit.

Try to find a school that will hire you as a class IV Instructor once you're done all of the training.
