Emotional harm in NZ

Post by Colonel Sanders »

The former director of a grounded flying school must do a hefty amount of community work and pay emotional harm reparation
Remember, NO HURTING PEOPLE'S FEELINGS.

You can steal money, make fraudulent maintenance
entries in logbooks, and crash airplanes with impunity.

BUT NO HURTING THEIR FEELINGS, ok?

As I get older and older, the world becomes a more
incredibly insane place. I'm sure what you youngsters
see is this:

But just wait a few decades. Heh heh.

Singh admitted assaulting Ms Vijay in early 2011 by strongly gripping her shoulder.

At a defended hearing Singh was found guilty of elbowing her during flights between May 25 and July 7, 2011.
She said [Singh] called her dumb and she felt demoralised
The same judge also found Singh guilty of slapping Mr Valiyapeediyekal across the face and shoving his head against the side of a cockpit during a flight on June 25, 2011.
The only one that seemed out of line is the third one. If I sued because my instructor strongly gripped my shoulder or called me dumb, I'd never have gotten my license.

On the other hand, if someone slapped me across the face, I'd probably use the next available opportunity to shove them into the prop.

I'm pretty sure there is no crying in the cockpit.

Or baseball:

I digress. If some twat of an instructor makes you lose
it in the cockpit, how are you going to behave when you
are faced with a really challenging situation? Bad wx?
Broken airplane? Low on fuel?

I must ask you: Why did this DI, famously portrayed by
R. Lee Ermey (who was never a DI, but was inspired by his)
behave in this manner? Did he hate them? Did he hate
everyone? According to new-age wisdom, was this DI
merely a sociopathic misanthrope?

There once was an unpleasant 19th century German
philosopher by the name of Friedrich Nietzsche who
said what?

"He regards himself as a pioneer of getting Indian students in the country to study," Thackery said
This really just confirms my theory that the unspoken "lash" method of training is effective.

I am partial to the F.I.S.R instructional method myself (Fear, Intimidation, Sarcasm, and Ridicule). :smt040

But on a serious note, unless your life is in danger, slapping a student is completely unacceptable.

Unacceptable maybe, but in some cases probably totally worth it. Especially at the low, low price of $486 per slap!

C'mon BPF, get with the program. Using one of TC's beloved learning factors, that of primacy, what a student learns FIRST (Fear, Intimidation, Ridicule, Sarcasm and Threats) they learn best.

With good Instructors the threat part is implied.

In any case FISR covers off all the learning factors.

Fear (Readiness, Intensity)

Intimidation (Primacy, Exercise)

Sarcasm (Relationship)

Ridicule (Effect, Recency)

In late 2010, I did about 15 hours dual touring in New Zealand on a flying vacation. Beautiful country... and now I find out I'm lucky that I wasn't assaulted in flight... haha... In all seriousness, this is a bizarre one-off... all the aero clubs I rented from had excellent instructors, facilities, etc. There's nuts everywhere...

Kiwis are pretty cool. Maybe the instructor was from somewhere else.
