Please do not park aircraft inside hanger!

Post by MIQ »

I'm sorry to be abusing this platform to let some steam off for one of my personal pet peeves but this is something I've been coming across on a regular basis. Now even seeing it in an official government publication got me thinking that maybe we need some clarification.
I've been refreshing on my icing knowledge with help of the highly recommended reading material by Transport Canada TP10643 When in Doubt... Small and Large Aircraft Critical Surface Contamination Training For Aircrew and Groundcrew and came across the same old issue.
TP10643 p.39 wrote: Hangars
1. The best method of ensuring that an aircraft is clean of contamination is by preventing the contamination from collecting in the first place; that is, park the aircraft in a hanger.
Unfortunately TC doesn't seem to know the difference between a hanger and a hangar either so lets put it in very simple terms (a picture that is):

Please be advised that parking an aircraft in a hanger is not an effective method of preventing surface contamination.
Besides that TP10643 contains a lot valuable information for TC exam preparation so everyone that is getting ready for PPAER, CPAER, INRAT, IATRA, SAMRA, SAMRON etc. should maybe give it a quick read before the exam.

Thanks for this, I must sheepishly admit that I was guilty of this a LONG time ago (in writing, not in trying to park an aircraft in a garment holder).

My not completely rational aviation writing pet peeve is licence vs. license.

Licence: Canadian (noun)
License: Canadian (verb)
License: American (both known and verb)

So in Canada, if you have a Commercial Licence, you are a licensed pilot.
