In twenty years time when your kids ask how you got into flying you want to be able to say "work and determination" not "I just kept taking money from your grandparents for type ratings until someone was stupid enough to give me a job"

CF18 specifically or military pilots in general?daedalusx wrote: ↑Tue Sep 11, 2018 1:23 pmCF18 pilots ... That's pretty much it ...Gonzodriver wrote: ↑Tue Sep 11, 2018 12:49 pm Has anybody ever been hired with less than the 2000 hour minimum?

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
Non CF18 military pilots would definitely have a decent amount of flight time and being that all RCAF pilots have a degree, they score very high in the AC interview process.Gonzodriver wrote: ↑Tue Sep 11, 2018 6:31 pmCF18 specifically or military pilots in general?daedalusx wrote: ↑Tue Sep 11, 2018 1:23 pmCF18 pilots ... Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
Yes total hours doesn't seem to matter in the AC hiring process. Many 10000+ hr pilots from Jazz have been turned down.
Let’s Go Brandon
Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
1 guy in my PIT course about five years ago said he had 1800 hours of float time...guess he interviewed pretty well! It's pretty rare.Gonzodriver wrote: ↑Tue Sep 11, 2018 12:49 pm Has anybody ever been hired with less than the 2000 hour minimum?

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
Sep 10th class had 12 Jazz, 5 Sky Regional, 3 GGN, and 15 OTS. Westjet, Encore, Porter, First Air, Inuit, Transat all represented. 2 military.
Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
Word on the street is, 1000 pilots will be hired in the next 3-4 years due to retirement and expansion. The current bids still shows 400 odd vacancies.
Re: The Air Canada OTS thread

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
You have a fairly varied career and worked lots of places and there is (was?) Record sharing between mainline and Jazz so you'd have to be able to come up with a good story about what happened there. Are you still flying in Asia with that type rating you bought or are you back in Canada now?
Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
any PIC time? they are getting applications from lots of WJ guys with a 7-12000 hour range and a bunch of 705 PIC before a couple thousand hours on 37's
Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
Has anyone applied OTS over the last 1-2 years and not heard a thing? If so, what type of experience did you apply with?

Applied just under a year ago when the OTS posting first showed up in Oct 2017. Had 3500 then. Just got an email the other day for the video interview.
Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
Been applying for years. 6000+ hr 737 captain. No post secondary. I’ve had nothing but crickets.

Applied 6 weeks ago. Got the email for video interview.
5000+ hrs, jet, aviation college.
Can’t bring myself to work for that wage, so I’m out.

Re: The Air Canada OTS thread
I've kept an active application for 2 years. 8000 hours almost all multi turbine PIC, training captain. Business degree, aviation diploma. I kind of expected a PFO for to no jet, no 705, but so far nothing!

Sooo.... why did you apply in the first place? Not know what the salary was? Hoping it would change overnight? Playing hard to get?JohnnyHotRocks wrote: ↑Thu Sep 20, 2018 8:51 pm Applied 6 weeks ago. Got the email for video interview.

We all agree the starting pay is abysmal, but I can count the number of resignations in the last year on one hand... there's a reason people stick it out for the first few years.JohnnyHotRocks wrote: ↑Thu Sep 20, 2018 8:51 pm Applied 6 weeks ago. Got the email for video interview.
