Anything can change between now and 4 years but AC is the goal. Yes, crappy pay to start but what the heck, it's AC. Can't beat red.

What are forecasted hiring trends looking like? How long do we suspect this wave will last?

Age 65 retirements finally started picking up this year, 100-150 retirements per year will continue for the forciable future.

Yes starting wages suck, but limited course rights has allowed high paying captain positions to go relatively junior (2-3 years) 1 Narrow Body captain course right for 4 separate separate positions (CS300/737/A320/L319)

The company is contemplating direct entry captains for the C-Series.
where did you hear direct entry captains for C-series? and why would they do that? I know of a lot of people that are interested in bidding the c series. Many of which are quite senior.
The company doesn’t “contemplate” anything when it comes to DEC. It will happen if the position goes unbid or a senior pilot has no course right to bid it.

It’s how seniority works.

Direct entry (or upgrade within 6 months) has happened in the past, in 2006 on the embraer. Few Jazz PML 1 were upgraded within 6 months as well. Initial C-Series bid will go senior however 60 fins are planned, with restricted bids things will go junior.

In the past bottom 777 FO position was at 10-12 years, bottom 320 CA was 7-8 years. Course rights has changed everything.

Good to see something has improved for new hires. 85 paid hours to 75 paid hours is still 12% less tho. I remember flying with a guy on flat salary around 2010ish who told me his wife asked him why he took a part time job. We were all in the 60-68 hour range at the time.
FYI... In 2010 flat pay was truly flat pay... it didn't matter if you flew 85 hours plus 20 hours of block growth and a draft, or didn't turn a wheel... you took home the same every month.

Best thing we could have is 75 hour monthly caps again and everyone could move up the ladder... higher pay or better seniority in your seat, etc... 85 hour months every summer, most of the year, for a whole career? No thanks.

Look at the fleet plan. For every 737 and A220 delivery an A320 or E190 departs. Almost 1:1.

Don't the job ads say 3000 total time AND atpl?
