Aren’t we still waiting for the final report from one of the crashes?

The "as soon as" in the title is classic fake news.

Boeing Resumes 787 Dreamliner Deliveries

Boeing Co. resumed deliveries of its 787 Dreamliner, a step toward moving past production problems with the widebody jets.

A United Airlines Holdings Inc. spokeswoman said the Chicago-based carrier received a 787 on Friday and expected a second as soon as Monday.
The plane maker had halted deliveries of the popular jets in October after a series of production quality lapses. The problems have prompted stepped-up regulatory scrutiny and hindered Boeing’s ability to generate cash amid the Covid-19 pandemic, which has hurt demand for air travel and the airplanes it produces.

A Boeing spokesman declined to comment on the pace of deliveries for the company’s backlog of Dreamliners, which it has moved to produce at a rate of five airplanes a month. Since halting deliveries in October, Boeing has built up an inventory of more than 80 finished planes, according to aviation data provider Ascend by Cirium.

The Boeing spokesman said the company thoroughly examined many aspects of the 787 program to ensure newly delivered airplanes “meet all regulatory requirements and Boeing’s highest quality standards.”

Doesn’t affect AC fleet at all, even WS had only 1 aircraft affected by this and it was the recent delivery. Sounds like it was a production issue and primer paint made it’s way into a bolt hole, may have created a grounding issue in the electrical system.

It's not a QA problem, it's due to a production change. Something to do with grounding in the standby power system. Only 3 Canadian aircraft are affected.

Boeing to pay $17 million over plane production issues in settlement with FAA

Boeing will pay at least $17 million in penalties under a settlement it reached with the federal government over multiple missteps during the manufacture and certification of the 737 Max and Next Generation planes.

The Chicago-based aircraft maker also must take steps to strengthen the screening, ordering oversight and installation of parts, according to an agreement announced Thursday with the Federal Aviation Administration.

The FAA gave Boeing one month from the signing of the settlement to pay the $17 million penalty.

It is, but add that to the $2.5 billion they already agreed to pay DOJ and the carriers plus the outstanding class action and private litigation cases, the final tally will be a lot more. The curious thing is how the FAA is escaping blame. They allowed the "streamlined" production and "self-certification" to a private entity whose responsibility is to shareholders. Dereliction of duty if you ask me.

Boeing Deals With New Dreamliner Defect Amid Production Problems

The new problem involves certain titanium parts that are weaker than they should be on 787s built over the past three years, people familiar with the matter said. The discovery is among other Dreamliner snafus that have left Boeing stuck with more than $25 billion of the jets in its inventory.
