Pretty strong sentiments on this one including Jagmeet Singh calling for Roseau’s resignation.

Thoughts ?

I didn't know that the government still owned Air Canada...

Oh look, apparently it doesn't, yet the government still seems to think that it is a crown corporation.
Air Canada, even with the Canadian government’s minor six per cent equity stake in the airline, is a private company. This means that, unless it’s engaged in grievous criminal activity or acts that endanger the public, the government has just about zero business meddling in its internal affairs.
Here, in a moment of actual good journalism, the reporter lays out the real plan.
...Canadians don’t speak both official languages and aren’t afforded adequate opportunities to learn them at a young age privileges a select few from certain regions and (wealthier) backgrounds when it comes to accessing positions of power and wealth. Opportunities at Canada’s largest companies — often government-backed oligopolies — should be accessible to all Canadians, not reserved for the elite few born in the right place or to the right parents.

Remind me, does our new Governor General speak French?

Never seems to be an issue when it’s the governments idea.

Honestly, move the HQ to Toronto. The government money given was a joke anyway. Then sees who gets the last laugh.

Well without the government that airline would have sinked a while ago so there's that... If they accept government money(which history shows they love doing) then they better get their sh*t together and respect both official languages of the country.

That's an excellent point. She doesn't speak French, but it looks like the Liberals are being hypocritical when it suits them:

https://globalnews.ca/news/8009636/mary ... al-french/
"Speaking French is normally a key requirement for Crown appointments who are expected to conduct their work and communicate in both official languages. The Liberals under interim leader Bob Rae opposed the appointment of unilingual Michael Ferguson as auditor general in 2011 for that exact reason, and the entire caucus — including Trudeau — boycotted the House of Commons vote confirming him as such that same year over his lack of French."

This

A principal method of controlling the west. Utilizing a language that if you don't learn at a young age because you were born in Cranbrook as a way of justifying how french speakers should be selected to be the leaders of the military, government and now apparently corporations.

For a government that virtuously brags about fighting discrimination, it seems to use ancestral discrimination to justify the exclusion of Anglophone speakers. Fact is - learning a language as an adult it is not as simple as picking up a book or downloading an app. Language skills are developed at a young age.

Used to be that West wanted in.

Now AFAIC the West ought to want OUT.

The attitude of superiority from the Central Canadian Elites is sickening.

They can't move the HQ. When AC was privatized in the 80's one of the requirements was that they maintain the HQ in Quebec. I'm sure they would have moved out long ago if they could.

Freeland needs to shut it first off. Second the token GG doesn't speak French.

Here's the funny thing, Ben Smith doesn't speak French either but he's a hero in the court of public opinion in France because he's done a lot of work in making their flag carrier succeed.

This is the typical garbage you get from a Liberal govt with an over inflated sense of entitlement (their 6% stake).
