From what I've read elsewhere,Delta was not holding any production slots after deferring the original Northwest order which would have seen the aircraft delivered in 2017 and 2018.

Fly. that's what airplanes do. Apparently the 787s from Seattle fly a lot better than the ones from Charleston SC. Please watch this without teal-coloured glasses on.
