Ground Schools on hold??

Post by underwater »

Hey guys, I friend of a friend was hired not to long ago, but his course date has been delayed till the end of March maybe even April. Just curious, if they are continuing to seek new pilots or are they putting the hiring spree on hold, for obvious economic reasons. Also heard that Cathy has done the same postponing of ground schools.

I'm also looking at getting on, just wondering if it might be a longer wait than I was hoping for.

Thanks for your help.

Cannot remember the details exactly as laid out by Dave P. But if memory serves accurate,
1 G/S in Mar (6 new hires) then because of the Boeing strike we are not getting any more planes until summer or so. So no new hires until then.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

That was my understanding as well, Airbrake. A friend of mine was interviewed, and was told it's for the September G/S.

March30, May 11

We start courses again Mid August running every three weeks with the exception being that we don't run one over Christmas. Interviews will ramp up again in the second half of the year. We are beginning to wind down until then.

Has anyone been given a class date later in the year?...after May 11 as Dave P mentioned?
Just wondering with mid August class dates mentioned when they may start making some calls or if those classes are already full? Also if you have been selected is the initial response from WJ a phone call?

I see we took Delivery of 2 -800's (809 & 810) in the last month or so, maybe that will help out the hiring situation a bit.

May 11th is now currently on hold while marketing sorts out the flying hours for the summer and it is anticipated that we will still run our next courses late summer or in the fall. The first few courses have been filled with our "hired pool"

Interviews won't be happening again until the late summer into the fall.

Eventually we will be switching to a different resume management service. All current workopolis files will still be accessible on my end. I'm not sure of the switchover date yet, but I will pass it along when it becomes known.

I'll agree with KAG on this, thanks very much DaveP for keeping everyone in the loop it's greatly appreciated. With no ad on Workopolis though, is there a way to update the resume that is on file? Can one still walk a resume in on Wednesdays or is this no longer done?

Is it true that you are not paid during Gnd School and sim? I have considered applying in the past and present but that may be a roadblock for me. Thanks for a reply.

But because there is only Calgary as a base, if you are a commuter you are on your own for hotel or flop house in Calgary, for the 2 months of training. Most flop houses don't want someone who is just there for training because you will essentially be there all the time, unless you find one that is not hot bed.

Happy Easter!

May 11 has been pushed to August or the first week in September due to blocking hours.

Workopolis still isn't working, but We are done selecting for a few months anyway. Eventually, as mentioned earlier, we will be switching back to "sonic" our own resume service. It won't be long and all applicants will be notified.

Take care,

Dave.
