RYANWEST -- Future Alliance. National Post - Greg Saretsky

Post by EA757 »

A stroke of genius matching Westjet with Ryanair... :prayer:
Of course, Greg, being the shy kind of guy he is, won't come right out and say it.... YET!

This has so much potential, I can't wait to see next years Christmas video.

You think "hooking up" with Ryan Air is a good thing? Wait until your "guests" get a taste of that product…how does that quote go? "That's gonna leave a mark!" Wow…this might be fun to watch!

Ryanair is fine. Flew them before. Only difference between them and AC is AC has reclining chairs and a FF program. YMMV

RyanAir doesn't provide a service anywhere near that of WJ, and nor do they have as good a reputation as them.

The only reason why people fly on them is because they're cheap.

GRK,
Let me just say that I was not referring to a merger between the two carriers, but an alliance. What I mean is they would offer fares and connections to each other at a couple of cities in Ireland.
Ryan Air has I believe 300 aircraft serving 325 cities in Europe. It is the largest airline in Europe. By
passenger (gawd I hate that word guest) sharing Westjet would stand to profit (in my opinion) enormously...
"That's gonna leave a mark!" Do you mean having Saretsky and O'Leary whizzing on each others nosewheels, like that Greyhound commercial years ago???

Old timer,
Thanks..

BMC,
I'm sure lots of people love what Ryan Air has to offer... It just can not get that big by being that horrible. I think passengers learned how to adjust their wants and needs to price. It seems to work quite well in certain markets.

TopperHarley,
"...RyanAir doesn't provide a service anywhere near that of WJ, and nor do they have as good a reputation as them. The only reason why people fly on them is because they're cheap..."

They are the largest in Europe. I am not going to be arguing with their success. :P

I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for any sort of formal alliance between WestJet and Ryanair.

I doubt either company would want to get involved in such an arrangement for all kinds of reasons.

On the other hand, they'll be no shortage of people who independently select Ryanair for their onward intra-Europe travel plans.

I wasn't thinking anything at all like a merge, the Westjet employees would never stand for it. (IMO) I was referring to an alliance, even if it's simply a traffic onwards type…the differences in how the two handle customers (I hate the "G" word as well!) is miles apart…there would be blood!
Cheers…

Realitychex and GRK,

Thanks. great points.

I just don't see them that far apart...

You really think the Irish would want to draw blood though???
Just kidding.
